Palestra Grande, Italy / Campania / Pompei

The Palestra Grande was an athletic and training field for gladiators that is adjacent to the Amphitheatre of Pompeii. The city of Pompeii was destroyed and buried under volcanic ash with the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD.
